We’re Hiring!

As of November 2023 we are hiring for full time and part time medical assistants. This application will remain open until the positions have been filled. IntervieweIn addition to the listed qualifications and education requirements, the strongest candidates will demonstrate curiosity, conscientiousness, and commitment to lifelong learning.


Medical Assistant Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Cleans and sterilizes medical instruments.

  • Prepares patients for abortion procedures by interviewing the patient, collecting a medical history and vital signs.

  • Increases efficiency and reduces patient wait times by setting up for procedures, assisting the physician during procedures and quickly turning over rooms.

  • Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; and keeping patient information confidential.

  • Provides counseling in-person and by phone about the types of abortion services offered.

  • Provides patient instructions on connecting to abortion funds for financial assistance

  • Processes pledges for abortion procedure funding.

  • Makes follow up calls to patients after abortion procedures.

  • Notifies patients when medications are ready for pickup.

  • Answers questions about the direct primary care model for prospective primary care patients.

  • Prepares invoices with accuracy and collects payments.

  • Files incoming faxes within the designated time frame.

  • Submits referrals and faxes form on behalf of the physician. 

  • Prepares and stocks frequently used forms.Makes primary care and abortion appointments by phone and also verifies that self submitted appointment requests are accurately added to the physician’s schedule in a timely manner. 

  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

  • Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.

  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications.

  • Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.

  • Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.



Medical Assistant Qualifications/Skills:


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Excellent team working skills with both in-person and remote team members.

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to ask for help when needed.

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

  • Proficient with Google suite.

  • Comfortable with learning new software.

  • Willingness to learn phlebotomy, equipment sterilization, and pregnancy dating ultrasounds.



Recommended Education, Experience, and Licensing:


  • 1+ years in a medical office

  • Experience with EMR (electronic medical records), medical terminology

  • High School diploma or higher

  • Bonus: pharmacy tech license, experience with abortion care or gender affirming care

While the listed experience will strengthen an application, it is not expressly required. We believe that a person with the appropriate level of enthusiasm can be trained to do this work.


Physical Requirements: 


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Prolonged periods of standing for instrument cleaning and sterilization.

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

  • Must be able to provide standby assistance for patient transfers.

  • Comfort working around bodily fluids (example: blood, vomit, etc)



Work Hours, Compensation and Benefits: 


  • Full time/Part time

  • Wage will be commensurate with education and experience. 

  • Health insurance is offered to full time employees.
